About Studentsite network

This is WordPress. An open source CMS system.
WordPress is like a Lego kit, direct out-of-the-box it works for a blog, but not much more. But just as with Lego you can acquire extensions that let you build almost everything. In WordPress, these extensions are called plugins.
There are currently more than 50 000 free, downloadable plugins in the official directory. Many of these are bad, obsolete, not updated -> useless. But many thousands are perfectly good plugins for many different uses. Big ones like Woocommerce that will totally rebuild your site to a complete web shop, small ones like Force login that only opens a site for registred users.

A WordPress site’s look and feel is determined by the theme. Just like the plugins, there are just about a bazillion themes to choose from. Not for you, unfortunately:

Our system is called WordPress Multisite. It’s a network that allows users to create new sites on the fly. This is a mother site whose uploaded themes and plugins will be those of the child sites.
Your site will have access to these themes:
GeneratePress (A great theme with many design possibilities. This website is GeneratePress)
Twenty Twentyone (WP:s official theme for the year. A modern look with limited design options).
Twenty Twenty (WP:s official theme for 2020. Simple but functional. In my opinion a better looking theme than twenty twentyone).
OceanWP (One of the most popular free themes. Flexible and multipurpose).
One can change theme at any point, your content won’t be affected.

There will also be a limited access to plugins. You will find those you can use in the plugin directory in your admin column. They will primarily consist of plugins that will enhance your design (like Max Mega Menu) or extend your presentation possibilities (like Master Slider).

For you with experience from the blog provider wordpress.com, you’ll find that this works very much the same.

If you want full access to all WordPress plugins and themes, I suggest a reasonably priced web hotel. Read about that here. (in Swedish).
